On Saturday, June 11th, 2022 at approximately 13:13 the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for a structure fire at 5791 South Hawthorne Ave. Crews from Engine 72 arrived on scene and conducted a scene size-up. Smoke and flames were visible from side alpha and delta of the structure and through the roof. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and the situation was placed under-control at 13:59. The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire and the family pet was able to escape. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire will be investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office. Units that responded and assisted on scene were: Engine 72, Tower 7, Tower 6, Utility 6, Engine 68, Engine 6, Engine Tanker 7, Kent EMS, Rock Hall Police and Fire Police, Ambulance 7, Ambulance 8, Ambulance 71.
