Life Member Neil Rodney Passes Away

The Officers and Members of the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company regret to announce the passing of Life Member Mr. Neil Rodney. Mr. Rodney was an active member of the Fire Company for nearly 30 years before going on inactive status. During his active membership he served as Vice President and Board of Director. Mr. Rodney was also an experienced and very knowledgable engineer. Neil loved being around the firehouse and socializing with everyone. He will be greatly missed.

Obituary for Mr. Neil Rodney

Neil Rodney of Rock Hall, MD died on Friday, January 22, 2016 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. He was 76.

Born on January 23, 1939 in Rock Hall, he was the son of the later Charles Alfred Rodney, Sr. and Tressa Andrews Rodney. Mr. Rodney graduated from Rock Hall High School in 1957 and took classes at McCoy College. He worked at Westinghouse on the Defense Project. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1965, when he was honorably discharged. On May 9, 1970, he married Sharon Jump. Mr. Rodney worked with BWI Airport in their fire and rescue service for 33 years, until he retired in 1999. He was also a volunteer firefighter at Rock Hall Vol. Fire Co, where he was a life member. Mr. Rodney was a member of the Raum Chapel United Methodist Church, Sgt. Preston Ashley American Legion, Post # 228, and the V.F.W. He enjoyed boating, camping, NASCAR, and his family.

In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by three daughters, Sherrie Rodney Connolly and her husband Robert of Oxford, MD, Marianne Rodney Connolly and husband David of Centreville, MD, and Michelle Rodney of Rock Hall, MD, three grandchildren, Maddy Connolly, Benjamin Connolly, and Patrick Connolly, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Rock Hall Vol. Fire Company, a visitation will be held one hour prior, and a reception will follow.
